Court of Nerds Episode 21: San Diego Comic Con 2015 REVIEW!

Basking in the afterglow of the glorious Comic Con of San Diego, three members of the Court gather to discuss alllll dem new goodies!

First, on a somber note, Natendo reflects on the passing of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, at just 53 years of age, which is absolutely heartbreaking not just for the fans of Nintendo, but for the company and all those who loved him. He also talks Arkham Knight and that danged ol' Batmobile. 

Next, Grant discusses the new books being put out by Marvel and DC this fall, and it is diverse: DC has a ridiculous amount of books coming out, but also is releasing 8 new mini-series that do look incredible. Marvel's upcoming solicitations were leaked at the Con, so there is a slew of new books on the way focusing on everything from a new Blade series to Devil Dinosaur. 

Finally, Droo reigns us in to talk about the myriad new trailers that were both released and leaked, as well as some new TV Talk: Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman, X-Men: Apocalypse, Fantastic Four, and our absolute favorite - Deadpool. Cursing never sounded so good!

Court of Nerds Episode 20: The Rise and Fall of Pizza

This week on Court of Nerds!

Jess about lost her composure over the new Wet Hot American Summer trailer. And then does her best Jon Hamm impression while hating on Terminator Genisys. Also, some of the best news to come out of women’s sports in a long, long time. Also! The new addition to Daredevil, Season 2!

Gregg ranted about CEOs for gaming companies not caring about the games they produce (for good reason!), and how awful Minecraft: Story Mode looks in terms of visual storybooks. At least Life is Strange is amazing.

Droo made everyone excited for the impending ROBOT BATTLE ROYALE between Japan and the US. And yes, Medium is actually not bad. What is bad? Tinder’s new update that “verifies” celebrity accounts (creepy!). Also, he unmasks a local celebrity Tinder, who is currently super sad about losing his ability to function. Poor Pete.

Grant’s girly voice made mouth noises about something or other. Grant Morrison, maybe? Possibly something bad about Arthur Suydam’s bad behavior? The world may never know.

Court Of Nerds Episode 20: The One With The Amazing Steve Orlando

It's a very special episode of Court of Nerds! But really...aren't they all special? This one though, has DC Comics and Image writer Steve Orlando! Steve is currently writing "Midnighter", one of the best books on DC's roster right now along with "Undertow" over at Image. 

 Grant's #DadTech talks about Poop Planes, passwordless logins that aren't really passwordless and Uber for phone repair. 

 Gregg took on the Suicide Squad's publicity baiting, the new all-female Ghostbusters costumes, the newest DBZ trailer and the potentials for more movie/TV Marvel crossovers. 

Jess was sad she didn't have tech, but she was excited to pimp Boke Expressway, Kaptara and the mostly awful leaked Marvel covers. Seriously, they're mostly pretty terrible with a few hidden gems and WHY IS SPIDER WOMAN PREGGO?!?!? 

Natendo talked about (what else?) NINTENDO this week. And a bunch of other stuff probably. But mostly Nintendo. 

 FINALLY: Super special thanks to Steve Orlando, current lead writer of "Midnighter" for DC Comics. He talked to the Court about the importance of sexuality in comic books, his connection with artist ACO, and assumptions the media and industry makes about gay characters. Plus, Steve talked about just wanting to tell great Midnighter stories and gives you 5 words why to check out his Image series "Undertow"! Check it out!

Court of Nerds Episode 19: Major company hate

This week on Court of Nerds:

The introduction of #JessTech (or #AltruisTech, as she calls it)! Where a non-techie person talks about happy things. Like Rhinos maybe not dying so much anymore, Google's war against the homeless and Uber's war against users! Yay! 

Droo discussed his disappointment with the news that Miles Morales is going to take the reins as SpideyPrime, #ValiantSummit, Wytches (otherwise known as one of the few things Stephen King "approves" of). 

Nate talked about the ever growing list of folks skipping San Diego Comic-Con, Jurassic World's ridiculously huge opening weekend, and the sad loss of an industry great.

Gregg ranted and raved about pre-orders and shoddy PC ports (again), in relation to Batman: Arkham Knight's lackluster PC release. Fallout 4 might have been thrown under the bus at some point. He was angry. He's feeling better now.

And then Grant drew an adult picture and held it up. That was his contribution.

This week on Court of Nerds:

The biggest week in gaming, when every few hours, a new announcement blows our mindholes to smithereens. It's the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2015!

Bethesda's press conference dazzled with more Fallout 4 footage, a special edition Pip Boy, and a teaser for Dishonored 2.

Sony's conference was the real winner. Not only did they revive The Last Guardian, but they teased a remake of Final Fantasy 7.

In other words, printing money.

Microsoft threw a wrench in the gears with new Halo and Gears footage, a silly premium controller, and backwards compatibility (which is INCREDIBLE).

Yes, Nate talks about Nintendo. But, it's not as glowing a review as you might think.
